Watch Out Testosterone, Here Comes Estrogen!
The days when testosterone ruled as the power hunger inducing, competition driving hormone are coming to an end. It turns out women do not need to grow brass balls; they already have brass ovaries!
According to a new study, estrogen stimulates the motivation for power and dominance.
The study busted the myth that the desire to be successful, to prevail over an opponent, to be ahead and on top is fueled by testosterone levels in a given person. Instead, it is related to levels of estrogen in women as much as it is related to levels of testosterone in men.
Interestingly, in single women and women who are not taking contraceptives the relationship between estrogen and the desire for power and dominance is the strongest.
This is also true for men. Testosterone levels in men drop after marriage.
Looks like it is not just women who have their hubbies by the balls. Men have their wives by the ovaries too!
