Pregnant? No Cell Phone for You!

Published by buchela under Women's Health Edit This

No Alcohol.

No Smoking.

No eating Junk food.

No Coffee.

These are some of the rules pregnant women are told they need to abide by for a healthy pregnancy.

Soon, another rule might be in place if the assertions of a new study that just came out are proven further to be true.

That new rule is – No Cell Phone.

Yes, that is right, pregnant women may no longer be able yap with their friends on their mobile guilt free.

Apparently, use of cell phone while pregnant may cause some hyperactivity related behavioral problems in children.

The list of things expectant women should or shouldn’t do keeps on growing.

It is nearly impossible to keep up with all the changes.

Love Your Shiny Lip Gloss?

Published by buchela under Women's Health Edit This

hum

Then you may not want to hear that you are increasing the chances of getting skin cancer by using them things.

Some dermatologists warn that the glossy shiny appearance of certain types of lip glosses may actually attract UV rays more.

While skin cancer is the worst possible scenario, too much directed sun exposure to the lips can lead to disfigurement and brown spots.

Sun exposure can also age the skin on the lips faster. As the skin loses elasticity it becomes more susceptible to cuts.

While all this sounds alarming and may even cause some of you to throw out your beloved lip gloss, the link between skin cancer and lip gloss is a speculative one.

It has yet to be proven with a proper scientific study.

But still, it is making news headlines.

So, You Think Your Butt Is Fat?

Published by buchela under General, Women's Health Edit This

Keep That Butt

You are in luck.

Research has good news for you!

Apparently, the fat on the butt can help cut the risk of type 2 diabetes.

A Harvard Medical School Study from the Journal of Cell Metabolism has discovered that subcutaneous fat, the kind that often accumulates around the butt and legs, doesn’t have the ill effects on health as it was previously thought.

In fact, subcutaneous fat may be even good for you. Rumor has it that it may produce a nifty hormone that is known as adipokines. This hormone boosts metabolism.

Instead, now the new bad boy fat is visceral fat, the kind that wraps around your internal organs.
So, next time you exercise, keep in mind that you need to concentrate on losing the fat around your organs not on your butt.

Because if you lose your butt fat, you better watch your back!  Type 2 diabetes may come and get you!

Watch Out Testosterone, Here Comes Estrogen!

Published by buchela under Women's Health Edit This

Viva Estrogen! The days when testosterone ruled as the power hunger inducing, competition driving hormone are coming to an end. It turns out women do not need to grow brass balls; they already have brass ovaries!

According to a new study, estrogen stimulates the motivation for power and dominance.

The study busted the myth that the desire to be successful, to prevail over an opponent, to be ahead and on top is fueled by testosterone levels in a given person. Instead, it is related to levels of estrogen in women as much as it is related to levels of testosterone in men.

Interestingly, in single women and women who are not taking contraceptives the relationship between estrogen and the desire for power and dominance is the strongest.

This is also true for men. Testosterone levels in men drop after marriage.

Looks like it is not just women who have their hubbies by the balls. Men have their wives by the ovaries too!
